Learning to be God's light in the world!

Sunday School Lesson

Sunday School this week is about Pentecost and the coming of the Holy Spirit. Pentecost is an exciting day in the church year. There’s noise! Wind! Fire! Ask your kids if they can imagine what it smelled, sounded, or felt like. See if you can paint a picture of what it may have been like. How do you and they feel the Holy Spirit working in them or see it working in others?

May 21 is the last Sunday School class for the 2022-2023 program year. We will resume Sunday School on September 10, Homecoming Sunday, for the 2023-2024 program year. Worship services for the summer will be at 10 a.m. each Sunday.

Notes

The children at Operation Restoration Vacation Bible School (VBS) will participate in mission (service) projects this year as a way of putting faith into action as they learn how to mend God’s world. Donations are needed for the various projects. Needed items are canned beans, vegetables and/or fruit, rice/pasta, cereal, peanut butter, granola bars, antiseptic and/or alcohol wipes, band-aids, gauze pads, stretch medical wrap, and full-size toothpaste tubes. Donated items can be placed in the blue bins in the Fireside Room through June, preferably by early June. Monetary donations can also be given to VBS Service Projects online at www.saintlukegive.us. If you have questions, contact Melissa Groen at mgroen@saintluke.us.

Summer will be here before long! For those with children PreK (4 years old by 9/1/2022) to 5th grade are eligible to attend Operation Restoration: Mending God's World VBS this summer. The children will participate in story time, recreation/games, science, service projects, and more. Registration is open here.

Logistics

The Sunday School children and teachers meet from 10-11 a.m. each Sunday. Sunday School meets in room 101 for a large group gathering before breaking into classes based on grade. While the kids are attending Sunday School, parents are invited to adult faith formation classes (Up for Discussion meets in the Media Center and a class with the pastors will be coming soon) or to meet for coffee, tea, and treats and conversation with other parents and church members on the patio.

Register your child now for Sunday School here. Registering helps Sunday School teachers prepare lessons and know who and how many kids to expect.

In addition to the suggestions about the lesson above, the videos and other lesson material below are helpful tools when talk to children about this scripture.
